My story

My journey toward plant-based hair care

I was born in Mauritius in the middle of the tropical forests where I often explored with my family, and it was there, among the many plants and small wild animals that I learned to love and respect nature.

Shortly after my studies in classical chemistry in France, I experienced a life-changing moment. One of my teachers died suddenly after prolonged exposure to toxic chemicals. It was a shock. So, I decided to reorient my studies and my commitment to research towards green chemistry and plant materials, which was one of the best decisions of my life.

After my studies in green chemistry, I settled in Canada where I immersed myself in the field of North American ethnobotany, and learned about the thousand-year-old indigenous tradition that considers hair sacred.I thereby discovered that plants, including yucca, are the best sources for hair care. I also became passionate about the history and traditions of North American Indigenous peoples where the health of man and nature is considered indivisible.

Motivated as never before I decided to develop a range of 100% natural hair care products, without petrochemical components and essentially based on Canadian plants.

Today I continue the development of Mistik products by relying on the botanical knowledge of the indigenous cultures by combining them with the cutting edge of current green technologies.

Petrochemical-based toxins, such as sulfates and silicones, do not biodegrade and eventually build up in your hair and scalp. At Mistik we are proud to use only 100% natural and biodegradable ingredients.

Our ingredients come from plant sources carefully selected so that their cultivation and harvesting do not bring any environmental degradation or imbalance of ecosystems. They are also guaranteed GMO-free. In each of our products, you will find organic active ingredients from Quebec and the rest of Canada.

At Mistik we have never tested our products on animals, and we never will. We believe that human health requires a deep respect for nature, plants, and animals. As all our products are 100% natural, we test them on ourselves with pleasure.
