5 Blueberry Recipes to Try this Summer

Because the miracle fruit is good for body and your hair!

By now, you have probably realized how important natural ingredients are to Mistik. We’re all about taking advantage of the best of what nature has to offer. Many nutrients found in local fruits, herbs, and plants work wonders for one’s health and help to maintain beautiful, strong locks.

Blueberries are just one of those ingredients, as we mentioned in our last post, Blueberries: Little Summer Miracle Fruit.

With harvest season in full swing in Quebec, we thought it would be fun to share some of our favourite blueberry recipes, so that your diet is the perfect complement to our Antioxydant haircare routine.

For mornings on-the-go, we love baking blueberry muffins ahead of time. Ricardo has a great recipe (1) that’s light, tasty and perfect for the entire family.

Another quick and easy option (that’s completely instagram-worthy) is a smoothie bowl. We love this blueberry and spinach recipe (2) from our friends at Best Health Magazine. However, we would add flax seeds instead of chia.

As a gluten-free and vegan snack or dessert, our mouths are watering over Lindsay S. Love’s Almond-Blueberry Pie Bars. (3). Pair them with a dollop of tofu ice cream, and you’re in for a treat.

Speaking of refreshing treats, you can’t go wrong with popsicles during the summer months. We’re obsessed with Abbey’s Kitchen’s recipe for homemade Wild Blueberry, Pomegranate, and lemon pops. Plus, Abbey, who is a registered dietitian, also shares some great insight into why antioxidants are so important in a healthy diet.

Finally, there’s nothing like a classic, blueberry pie at a family picnic or barbecue. They can be a little time consuming, but Chatelaine has a recipe that takes just about as long as a hair mask! Refrigerate overnight, and your hair and your dessert will be ready to bask in the sun.
